Hi
I am new to linux suse. I installed it, but I need to install more packages necessary for oracle installation. I did not know install them, can I get help regarding I installed suse 10.0?
Thanks all

Is there a reason you’re starting w/OpenSUSE 10.x now? It’s quite old,
and 11.3 is out. Either way you can go to Yast and choose to search for
and install Oracle-related stuff (SUSE has a package to ease the
installation of Oracle, which you must get and do on your own with
Oracle’s instructions).

sudo /sbin/yast
Software

Good luck.

Hi kamam1958, Welcome to the forum

SuSE 10.0 is outdated as it was released back in 2005 so its over 5 years old - Download openSUSE 11.3 (latest version) which was released in July this year.

As ab [at] novell.com said you can use YaST to install packages

Hope you enjoy openSUSE. Feel free to ask any questions on these forums regarding any openSUSE questions you may have

Thanks
Andrew

Hi, welcome here

Is this the Enterprise version? To make clear: there’s the Novell driven SLES/SLED (SUSE linux Enterprise Server/Desktop), and there’s the community driven openSUSE. If you have SLES/SLED, please post in their forums (link on forums home page). If you do have openSUSE, I suggest you download and install a more recent version. As stated 10.0 is out of support for a long time now, it will be hard to find packages, there will be no security updates/fixes.

Enjoy, don’t hesitate to ask.
