I’m new to openSUSE. The last OS I used was Windows Vista, but my interest in Linux dates back from 2002, when I started playing around with Debian.
Might I just say that openSUSE is AWESOME! Any complaints I’ve ever heard, at all, about Linux and its distributions seems to be entirely unfounded. My installation of the OS was easy and very quick. Why I haven’t used this particular distribution, before, is beyond me.
I’m very glad to now be a part of the openSUSE community.
Welcome to openSUSE! I’m also a Windows Vista convert, and originally it wasn’t by choice. I now prefer openSUSE over Vista and have been using openSUSE for about half a year now. If you’re using KDE4 you’ll find it has a lot of features that Vista had such as the search function from the “start” menu (Kickoff Menu or Application Launcher) and the ability to use Widgets (Gadgets). You can also use Desktop Effects to get the Aero Flip feature that you had to pay extra for in Vista. Plus you get extra Desktops and a lot of eye candy using half the eye candy. If you have any questions the forum and wikis are very good resources.
