New to LLinux/suse, need help with ati drivers

Hi folks,

I have just installed Opensuse11.0 onto by Acer Aspire 5670 laptop and after some teething problems with the partitons etc I now have it installed and working.

However I was trying to get the compize stuff working but it won’t.

This led me to the graphics settings and it appears that I don’t have the drivers for 3d graphics.

My graphics card is a mobility radeon x1400 I went to ati support and downloaded the file ati-driver-installer-8-10-x86.x86_64.run

but when i try to run it it doesn’t work, I am completely new to all this so i hhave no idea where to start.

Would really appreciate your help.

You can enable the ATI repository in Yast. You can use 1-click install on the Suse site or you can install the proprietary driver by following these instructions:
