Recommend new sticky for Programming/Scripting:

To install a C/C++ compiler and required Development Tools:

  • open YAST Software Management
  • Change Filter to ‘Patterns’
  • select ‘C/C++ Development’ (11.0: ‘C/C++ Compiler and Tools’)
  • Click Accept.

To accomplish this from a command line, as root, issue:
zypper install -t pattern devel_C_C++
