New Skin Available

An additional skin has been added called “openSUSE Basic”. This skin takes the vBulletin default skin and adds some color to it.

This skin is a lot easier to maintain and will always have the most up to date functionality in it since it will be updated on every vBulletin update (other skins need to be updated manually).

I admit, it’s not as fancy looking as the others, but give the functionality a try and let me know what you think.

You can select a skin/style in the footer of forum pages.

I like it! It’s easier on my old tired eyes:D

Are you going to make it a permanent option?

Must be tough having no eye lids… :frowning: I feel for you bro.

Are you going to make it a permanent option?

It depends on how popular it is.

I think it’s great!

Really easy to read and scan.

PLEASE make it permanent.

Now all we need is a mechanism to allow us to come straight into the forum our chosen skin.

At last I can read the posts before I answer them. Thankyou from me and snakedriver. Anticipate intelligent advice from now on.

Oh and can you fix the fly speck on the third icon from the left, and please make the decor colour more shamrock green and less olive.

User Control > Manage Options > down on the bottom right of the list of options, you can set it. It will come up that way when you login:)

Thanks for that:)

It is basic by name and indeed it is basic. As mentioned above it does make it very readable. I’ll give it a try for while and see how it goes (not sure about the colours though).

Much better, thank you. You could even use more of the empty space on the left and right. Please make it permanent.

Nice, thanks!

The new skin has a nice layout indeed…

The dark green seems a bit too dark to me (giving it an old look) , but thats a personal color preference.

Other than that… thumbs up! All options and menus fit nicely in my screen.

Cheers,
Wj

This is much, much better, even than the the noe called “green” one.

Please, please, make it the default. I get sick from either changing the skin, or logging in every time to be able to read a thread.

If this would be set as default I would personally miss one thing… the opensuse menu in the top left of the current default skin.

Is it possible to add it to the new skin in it’s length? (e.g.

Does the spell checker work? Not for me.

swerdna,

I thought we had washed all those icons before we put them out. Dang. Who
was in charge of washing icons?!?

Colors shamelessly stolen from the openSUSE wiki.

You have my vote to keep it as an option.

From a theoretical asthetic point of view, I like the openSUSE and openSUSE-forums skins better. But from a practical point of view, I find this new “basic” skin much much much much easier on my eyes. Especially if there is a thread with many posts, the openSUSE skin is simply too hard on my eyes (despite my liking it esthetically) to hunt through multiple posts.

I’ve stopped using the other skins, and now only using this newer skin.

I did say I find this newer skin easier on my eyes?

oldcpu,

Can you say that one more time? I don’t think I caught it.

Nice new skins.
Just noticed it this morning. I was about to start a thread to praise this new improvement when I noticed kgroneman’s announcement.
Well done

And dod you spot my request to fix the spalling checker?
