New posts not showing threads which contains replies by me?

Well I just clicked on the New posts link, and surprisingly, it didnt show the threads in which I had replied - more specifically, the thread in which mine was the last reply - is this by design or a bug?

Thanks

coolpcguy,

This is an automated response but we appreciate your feedback. Staff
takes all suggestions and comments seriously. While we can’t
guarantee every suggestion or comment will result in forums changes,
we give each one consideration.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm…gives one and all a real welcomed/homey feeling…

coolpcguy, I believe this is by design. (IMHO).

ie After you replied to a thread, then the thread is no longer new. ie you opened it to read, and then you replied. Ergo, its not new. Hence it would be illogical to see your reply in new threads.

If you wish to see a list of recent open threads, including the one you replied to, then simply select “Quick Links” and then “Today’s Posts”.

DenverD, re: your comment, … some of us are pretty busy. I simply do not have time to read every post on this forum, and often posts like the one above are missed by me (and missed by the other volunteers). Many of the over 1,000 users on this forum could have replied to the above but none did not. So the admins on this forum implemented an automated response system to ensure that:
a. the users were given a notification that their post was noted, and
b. the users’ post is “bumped” to increase the probabiliy it is seen by a human being again.

Contrary to your sarcasm “gives one and all a real welcomed/homey feeling…” this implementation DOES give me a good feeling.

i guess i liked the canned response that existed in those other
Novell groups (which were closed)…hmmmmm, i no longer seem to have
a copy to quote as an example…but, as i recall, i began with
something like

"You have not received an answer to your post in a day/long time…

it was personal (referencing ‘you’) even if it was automatic, from a
machine…

and it did not include words like “we can’t guarantee every
suggestion or comment will result in . . .” which, imho begins with
the negative and put-down assumption that THIS suggestion that YOU
(the person being replied to) just made is possibly not worthy enough
to actually result in progress/change…

why not let the auto reply verbiage appear to assume that the
suggestion/comment IS worthwhile–and, therefore the staff won’t have
to apologize in advance for dismissing it, or NOT taking action, or
not replying (when they get around to it)…

and, by the way: i do not appreciate your public assumption that i
was being merely sarcastic…if you don’t like my writing/posting
style, i’m pretty sure you can find my PM address…

DenverD,

Sorry you don’t like the text. However, it’s what the staff selected as the
text to use because we think it pretty much says what we want it to say.
Thanks for the feedback however. It did do as it was intended by bringing
the original post to the attention of oldcpu. One thing I’ve learned is
that no matter WHAT we do, some will like it, some will not.

Amen. And a few will dislike damn near everything.

Yeah… for example like that curse word filter :stuck_out_tongue:
But it’s better than to have whole posts filled with cursing and obscene language…

and some will defend whatever is there already…no matter what.

Might that be a line indicating the difference between those who build
and create versus those that tear down and use what is created by
others? Which are you?

I’m already online. Just Google. And of course we could do a search of
these forums and get a pretty good picture too…

You’re big on stating how you think. You don’t seem as receptive when
others express themselves. But then, that’s just my opinion. Others may
see it differently.

I’m sure if we wait a bit, we’ll hear more from you.
