New Post question

I think one of the most valuable tools in this forum is the ability to find New Posts with one click. However, I think there must be some setting wrong since I miss some postings. I only know this when I look for a response to a specific thread that I think should have been answered… like my own posts.

For example, if I last logged in 3 hours ago, New Posts may show posts from only the last 2 hours. (I made those numbers up.) On the other hand, sometimes clicking New Posts shows me all posts for the last few days.

I thought maybe this was a time zone issue, but I can find no time settings of any kind in the user control panel. Since it works both ways (too few new posts and too many new posts) that is probably not the answer. Is it just that the board is so active that while I’m logged in, or for a short time afterwards, that posts come in and fall into a black hole? I use another forum that uses the last login time, not the last logout, so this never happens.

Any ideas?

Hey Prexy:

The “New Posts” link shows you new UNREAD posts. If you’ve read a
message, it doesn’t show up there. I may be misunderstanding you but it
sounds like what you want is the “Today’s Posts” found under
quicklinks. Also in the advanced search you can specify dates. Am I
wrong?

“Today’s Posts” is not what I’m after. I want unread posts that came in since the last time I checked for new posts. I just saw that I “last visited” at 13:03. Going back to the “New Posts” search, I see the oldest post not included in the search results for new posts is also 13:03. I never saw that one, which is understandable since I may have been reading other posts when it came in. But there are about a half dozen older posts that I never saw.

This isn’t such a big deal. Other times, I have seen many posts that should have been included in the search results. As I said, sometimes ALL posts are included in the search results, not just the new ones. Anyway, this doesn’t wreck my experience with the forum. I just thought I might be able to adjust a setting to fix it.

One way to check on your own posts is to go to members list, find yourself and click on all posts by or all threads started by
