New opensuse user need help updating to kde 4.5.2

I’m not sure if this is the right forum, but I need some help.

I installed opensuse 11.3 from the dvd installer. It came with kde 4.4.4. I want to upgrade it to kde 4.5.2.

How do I go about doing this?

I’ve read through some other postings but I couldn’t make heads or tails out of them.

Mods please move this post if needed. Thanks.

Open yast, select Software and then Software Repositories.
Add this repo: Index of /repositories/KDE:/Release:/45/openSUSE_11.3 and “ok” your way out.
You will be back to the Software category in yast. Select Software Management. After the repos are loaded, you come to a screen with tabs. Select the Repositories tab.
In the left hand column, find the 4.5 Stable repo that you added and select it. At the top of the right hand column will be a line that says “Switch system packages to this version…”
Click that line and you will see lots (and I mean lots) of packages listed in blue, which means they are newer and will be updated. Click accept.

After this, if you have another KDE repo, you should go back and disable it.

You need to add this repo:

Index of /repositories/KDE:/Release:/45/openSUSE_11.3

To add it via a terminal copy and paste this with your mouse in to a su - terminal

zypper ar -f http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/45/openSUSE_11.3/ kde45

then

zypper ref

accept the key with (a) for always, then close the terminal

Now in software management, view by repositories and do this:
ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing

It worked flawlessly!

Thank you so much!

You made my day.

Great news!
