I would just like to say Hello to everyone. I’m new to OpenSUSE.
I’m using a MSI U180 netbook and have installed OpenSUSE 12.3 which works brlliantly, even though the netbook only has 1GB of ram. The netbook also has a 300gb hard drive.
It recognized all my hadware from scratch, automatically detected my external TV which can be used as a monitor, and when out and about, it recognized the netbooks screen without any problems.
I’m disabled and technical minded, but also disabled, so sometimes I will make spelling mistakes without realising.
So far the for me, the OpenSUSE experience has been excellent.
.-=WELCOME=-. Thank you for trying openSUSE and stopping by to say hello!

I agree a modest specification. Bear in mind that openSUSE typically only takes up ~5GB of hard drive space on a default
install. But if you’re running openSUSE KDE/GNOME with 1GB of RAM and it’s smooth, that’s impressive.

Some graphics chipsets are more easily handled by openSUSE than others for a default install. I’m guessing your computer
has integrated Intel graphics. Remember things may be a little trickier if start using NVIDIA/AMD graphics chipsets.

It appears you make fewer typos than me!

Glad it’s working well for you! Remember if you encounter any issues, please feel free to ask the forum community here,
who would be pleased to help you.
It is nice to hear a new user is posting not having an issue but to say everything is running fine.
As flymail said, if you have any problem, this is the right place to ask.

I have an old laptop (pentium IV) with 500 MB ram and 80GB HD, “running”
12.3. I use it mostly as download server (with an external 500 GB disk),
but I also use it to play movies, using XFCE as desktop.
