New installation update takes forever

Hi,

I just recently installed opensuse 11.2 on my pc at home. I installed it from a livecd usb. Now I wanted to install a couple packages but it first gives me a list with updates which first need to installed. This is taking forever, I’m using the software management to do this with (allows me to see which package is being downloaded and the speed).

Is there a way of changing the repos to a different mirror or something where I get decent speeds? I know it’s possible in ubuntu and gentoo, I can’t even get other programs to install first (sensors so I can turn down my fan speeds computer sounds like a vacuum cleaner, or even nvidia drivers) I’ve been updating my computer for the past 2 hours and haven’t even gotten halfway through.

Don’t stop updates that are running.

You can try different mirrors

Turns out the problem was my router. A couple days later it completely stopped working, after replacing it with a new one. Speeds were amazing. Thanx for the tip though.

Good news. Thanks for letting us know.
