Tried new installation of Opensuse 11.0 from Live DVD. I had some problems getting acceptable GUI text as letters so blocky they could not be read. Played around with startup options when booting live DVD and by selecting VGA 800 x 600 resolution the text became legible but window too large to see all buttons so could only work by tabbing and guesswork.
Went ahead with install option from DVD but once completed the text had reverted to blocky appearance; so much so that using Yast to try and configure graphics and monitor I couldn’t read resolution options.
Please could somebody advise where I can learn about appropriate boot options to enter on startup so that I can get system up and running.

At the boot screen enter:
init 3
on the keyboard you should see it echoed on the screen, this will boot the machine to a console login.
Login as root and enter the root password ( will be your user password unless you have specifically designated a different one for root )
run:
sax2
and try to configure the graphics and monitor as per your hardware, do not forget to test
the config before saving, if all works then save the config and type:
init 5
This should bring up a graphical login to the Xserver and away you go.
if you have more probs then could you post you graphic hardware details so we can be a bit more specific
