New install - boots to black screen....

Hello, I installed TW from USB (dvd iso), I had chosen ‘kde’ and created a single user to auto-login during setup. But after completing the install it just boots to a blank black screen. During boot it shows me these messages:

5.036418 nouveau 000:01:00.0: bus: MMIO write of 800000b4 FAULT at 10eb14
 IBUS ]

then I see the tumbleweed logo, after which I see the kde splash screen (geeko in a light bulb) and then absolute darkness!! I can see the hdd lights going crazy for a few secs and then everything stops. There’s no mouse pointer on screen - nothing. I hit ctrl+alt+f4 and I get this:

Welcome to Opensuse Tumbleweed 20170424 - Kernel 4.10.10-1-default (tty4)

I’m able to log in and just says ‘have fun’. I don’t know where to go from there. I did try the recovery mode, but that was similar as well. Hopefully someone can help me fix this?

P.S: I had initially posted in another thread, but created a new thread to get more exposure (as advised).

What NVIDIA card?? Did you try nomodeset at boot?

Press e at boot screen find line starting linux or linuxefi press end key add space and nomodeset press F10 to continue boot

Thanks, using nomodeset gets me to the desktop. I’m gonna update everything and switch to proprietary drivers for nvidia. I’m using a GTX 960. Thanks again.
