It’s there, & wants to work, but, I don’t think the /SUSE rpm folders are fully populated just yet. I had a number of dependencies for files that should have been there – like ticking a box in “Patterns”.
I bet the Devs finish it up tonight & we can install 11.1Beta2 from it sometime tomorrow:)
Come on Beta 2.
PS: BTW I have found no mirrors as yet; I’ll be looking.
I’m testing 11.1 Beta 5 and I got the same thing attempting a network install from download.suse.org/factory/repo/oss. I am about to switch to the Gnome LiveCD of 11.1 Beta 5 and see if it’s any better. Meanwhile, is there an IRC channel for 11.1 Beta testing??
I installed beta5, and was able to update from the factory repos using Smart package manager.
The funniest hiccup was my not getting the wired ethernet to work in beta5. Very puzzling, as wired ethernet has always worked on my test PC as long as I can remember. I checked the configuration (in yast) of the network card 1/2 dozen times. Rebooted twice. Wired ethernet still did not work!! And this was with the standard RTL-8139/8139c/8139c+ that exist in an incredibly large number of PCs. Yet a Google search (on my 2nd PC running openSUSE-10.3) suggested no one else had encountered this with openSUSE-11.1.
I also have openSUSE-11.0 on the same PC with the 11.1-beta5 ethernet problem, so I thought I would reboot and check to see if it was a hardware problem (since I KNOW 11.0 works and my PC is incredibly old). So a rebooted, and ethernet did not work under 11.0 !!
But it had worked just the other day.
Then I remembered the maid had been cleaning since I last used the ethernet. I looked at the back of the PC, and the ethernet cable was not connected.
< sigh > … Sometimes I think I just get dumb and dumber. :X
I posted elsewhere that the Devs have been updating the Factory repo “keys”. If you are having trouble, do:
“zypper ref”
(and that will pull in the new keys if they have been changed)
then you can go back to using Yast (or Smart, etc.)
I guess it depends on when you 1st added the repos and pulled in the keys whether you have a problem or not.

I was working with the Factory repos the other day, of course they where being hit pretty hard and I got a lot of time outs and package xyz is not on repo abc so on and so forth, but 2-5 retries and everything is good. You could try the factory IRC channel for Beta testings and such.
