New dual-boot machine has poor network performance

This is a thread I’ve moved over from the install forum and is hopefully more focused. Sorry if I have violated some protocol.

Problem

I have a new machine build configured to dual-boot Windows 7 and OPENSUSE 11.4. Network performance in Windows is very good but network performance in OPENSUSE is very poor.

Symptoms and testing
Browser page loading is slow and often times out. I ran a Speedtest.net test with the following results:
Windows 7: ping - 25ms, Download - 10.67Mbps, Upload - 1.04Mbps
OPENSUSE: ping - 32ms, Download - 0.81Mbps, Upload - 0.15 (does not finish - errors out)

I have turned off ipv6:
Bootloader command line options - ipv6.disable=1 nomodset
Network Settings > ipv6 Protocol Settings unchecked
Firefox config: network.dns.disableipv6=true

I ran netinfo (thank you jdmcdaniel3) with the results in the next post (too many characters for this one).

**Observations
**
As noted in the earlier post the RX packet loss is terrible. I don’t have any idea what that strange search term is in /etc/resolv.conf or what it should be. It seems strange that the hardware info shows the ethernet subdevice as a “GA-EP45-DS5 Motherboard” instead of “GA-P67A-D3-B3”

This is my configuration.

MOBO - Gigabyte GA-P67A-D3-B3
Chipset - P67 Express
CPU - Intel Core i5-2500K
Memory - 8GB
Video - EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 SE
LAN chipset - Realtek 8111E
Wireless card - Rosewill RNX-N250PC
DASD - WD Cavier Black WD7502AAEX 750GB for Windows 7
DASD - WD Cavier Black WD1502FAEX 1.5TB for Opensuse 11.4

Anybody have any suggestions as to what’s going on?

I just found this thread Default driver for Realtek RTL8111E chip (Ethernet) does not work and will try this solution.
