New disk added to dmraid automatically?

Hello,

I just installed suse on a disk that’s connected to the motherboard SATA controller.
Works like a charm.

I added 2 hard drives connected to a PCI/SATA card expecting I could create a RAID 1 out of them and keep the data separated from the system.
When I booted up, I got surprised with the fact both newly added disks had been added on the dmraid automatically.

dmsetup status

pdc_gicijfga_part3: 0 621785088 linear
pdc_gicijfga_part2: 0 2891776 linear
pdc_gicijfga_part1: 0 319488 linear
pdc_gicijfga: 0 625000000 mirror 3 8:32 8:0 8:16 2159/4769 1 AAA 1 core

How can I safely find from which disk the system boots, remove those disks from the dmraid and create a mdadm software raid with them?

The Yast interface is of no help in this.
Any tips please?

Thanks a lot.

dmraid does what BIOS tells it. It appears you have Promise fake raid card with three disks in single triple mirror RAID in it. You will need to go into setup of your controller and remove extra drives from RAID.
