Networkmanager freezes up, forced to reboot

So I recently got openSUSE 11 with KDE4.1 up and running. Everything is working great except for that when I leave my computer on and unattended for an extended period of time(like overnight for example) networkmanager seems to freeze. If I go to my system monitor I see a bunch of processes, usually firefox and anything else trying to use the internet, that under cpu% are listed as disk sleep. I’m also unable to terminate any of these processes. Attempting to log out of my session just leaves me with a blank screen and I’m forced to to a hard reboot. Not quite sure what the problem is or how to diagnose it as I’m very new to linux in general. Any ideas?
