NetworkManager and DNS

Hey there,

since a few weeks I have a problem connecting to other hosts when I’m using another wireless network, which has a different DNS IP than I have in my network. I have to change /etc/resolv.conf to change the nameserver.

Can NetworkManager control the nameserver? If yes, how?

Problem solved!

I removed the /etc/resolv.conf and after restarting network a default resolv.conf was created.

That’s just what I was going to suggest. I’m glad you found that solution.

If you ever edit “/etc/resolv.conf” then it may stop being updated. Remove it, reboot, and it starts being updated again.

s/may/will/. If you clear the splash screen on startup or shutdown, you will see
a warning message whenever the system thinks you have modified /etc/resolv.conf.
