New to linux here and just had a few questions. How do I set up networking between my linux computer and my windows computer? I’d like to have access to the hard drive on both computers from both computers if possible. Also any tips and tricks you think a linux noob could use, feel free to add in.
Assuming both computers are already on the same network, the normal method is using SAMBA. If you open yast2 and click on Samba server (to share files to the Windows box) and Samba client (to open files from the Windows box), it should be reasonably self-explanatory from there. The files from Windows also need to be selected as shared (right click … select Sharing … make sure firewalls on both computers aren’t blocking it as well.)
It might help to flesh out the good advice from MasterPatricko with some broad background that applies in openSUSE:
