Networking with various other pc's with various OS's

I am currently downloading suse 11.1

My family is big on photography and I made them a computer primarily for storage. They all have different OS’s - various windows and macs os’s.

Is there a easy way I can make my “storage” computer with suse that all the other computers can access.??

windows will be your limitation, unfortunately as it only supports a
couple file-transfer schemes, but if you setup your box to use Samba
anything should be able to reach it since windows can and everything
else can handle any number of protocols including SMB.

Good luck.

I am not too familiar with samba. Is it already with suse install or do I need to install it through yast??

Is there any tutorials on samba through suse. Is it all command based. guess I am going to have to do a lil bit of homework on it.

Samba is installed by default on openSUSE. There’s a primer tutorial here:
