Networking a printer: this SHOULD be simple.

But it doesn’t seem to be.

I’m trying to network my HP Laserjet 1100A, which is connected to my openSUSE desktop machine. Basically I’m trying to do what I had in ubuntu, where the ubuntu desktop machine that the printer was connected to acted like a network print server, so that I could print from my laptop within my home network. However, I can’t seem to figure out how to network the printer. I have set the printer to be shared through CUPS, but I can’t seen to figure out what the URI is, much less anything else that would help me do this. Anyone have a clue as to how to do this?

Thanks,
Dan

Have you had a quick peek at swerdna’s site Linux HOWTOs and Tutorials: Suse Linux 10.0, 10.1 openSUSE 10.2, 10.3, 11.0 he’s got quite a lot of networking tutorials

Thanks for that link, that did the trick! In Ubuntu, the process was much more GUI-driven, whereas here I had to modify the config file, and I just didn’t know what config file I needed to edit and how.
