network works with ifup but fails with networkmanager

Hi everyone

A weird problem appeared after upgrading to kernel 3.12.6-1.g080d0df-desktop (opensuse 12.3)

While network works fine with the traditional method (ifup), it fails when I switch control to the NetworkManager (yast2 completes the configuration then a window pops-up saying “No Network running”

The hardware is an Alienware 17R4 laptop.

Any ideas?

I have been fighting this running battle since I installed 13.1. Install
updates NM applet says NM not running, install updates the applet shows
networks and on and on. Right now with latest updates using TumbleWeed
NM applet is it working. And I can say that it is not a kernel thing.
Latest updates had no kernel change when NM applet starting working again.
