Network Update Problems.

Hi guys.

I recently updated my PC from openSuse 11.4 to 12.1. But the following problem occured.

I can’t now install packages through yast or zypper.

For example i tryed to install gparted, and as the result i’ve got:

gamlet@linux:~> sudo zypper install gparted

That’s very strange, because when i try to view in browser file http://download.opensuse.org/update/12.1/repodata/repomd.xml,
browser says nothing and shows me the file, and it seems
that this is not a network problem.

Google translate ftw :slight_smile:

you might wanna look at this tread:

zypper-repository-not-found-but-i-can-access-firefox

it seems that this article is not about me:

  • i don’t use proxy;
  • i don’t have problems with resolving host names, so i don’t need to disable ipv6;
  • and the default route is added;

Also this problems acts unpredictable. Sometimes i can reach the repository and sometimes not, while automatic update goes. But when i try to install the packages it almost always tells me that i don’t have access to repositories

Please post output of

zypper lr -d

I suspect you still have the CD/DVD/USB-key entry active without the disk in the drive or the USB-key inserted. The command will show.

Here, it is:

Please repeat code in English. Just type:
“LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 whatever” before the command, so that
we can see.

Remove 4, 5 & 7 anyway, unless you are an openSUSE developper.

What I see from your posting is that there are “curl” errors. Search the forums for “curl”, IIRC there’s a couple of threads with solutions.

I search this, tried a lot but nothing helped.

i changed mirrors, run zypper with a lot of different params, but the error is the same.

I think i’ll just reinstall opensuse :slight_smile:
Hope this will help.

Thanks

In the Linux world reinstalling seldom works.

But it did work and It seems that the problem is with the Network update.

More likely the mirror you use got repaired or you got redirected to
another one.

But reinstallation fixed this problem
