Network unreachable

I installed all the software required that the network manager said to install, ipw-firmware, ipw, wpa_supplicant.

I am new to SuSE, not linux itself.

I just came over from Ubuntu(sucks now) to openSuSE.

I can get into my server from my Mac 192.168.1.105. However, when i try to get into my machine from my domain name, I can’t access it.

Also, when i go to ping google I can’t access the internet. Any ideas on how to get back onto the internet?

Note: This is a susestudio version

I can ping local devices, I just can’t ping outside computers or get into my computer’s web server from the outside(My IP address from ISP)

Edit: I do have my name server 192.168.1.1 in my resolv.conf file.

Your device works and the correct driver is in place

HCL:Network (Wireless) - openSUSE

You may have a DNS issue
Try switching from DHCP to your ISP’s DNS server settings

Yes but then is it the firewall or what is causing it to have network unreachable???

Can you login to the router/access point?

I never had the firewall cause network issues

Yes i can, what do you want me to do?

First try disabling IPv6 first
Disable IPv6

Also add this to the boot arguments
ipv6.disable=1

How do i add that to boot arguments?

When you get the grub screen like this, just type it in:

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Ktf90GS0Ygs/SzQuxoIHfrI/AAAAAAAAAMg/1dS6moX919g/s640/1%2520Initial%2520Boot.jpg

Network unreachable, And i figured out the ipv6.disable parameter, I added it and its still the same

Then try setting DNS manually as I suggested earlier

Firewall in openSUSE is ingress-only.

What’s the output of:

/sbin/route -n

If you can ping your local systems but not outside your network, that’s a
classic symptom of lacking the default route.

its on dhcp if thats what you mean

Yes
I have to run. Back in a bit.

Ok, and DHCP is already set.

Did you notice Jim’s post?
He’s way better at network stuff than me

Do the following tests

ping -c 5 192.168.1.1
ping -c 5 216.83.154.106
ping -c www.samba.org

Based on what you wrote, I am guessing that line 1 has the correct address for
your router. In addition, that one should work.

If #1 works, but #2 fails, you have a routing problem. Post the output from
‘/sbin/route -n’ inside code tags.

If #2 works but #3 fails, you have a DNS problem. You should post the output of
‘cat /etc/resolv.conf’, but ship the comments (lines that start with #). You
might try adding lines that say ‘nameserver 8.8.8.8’ and ‘nameserver 8.8.4.4’ to
see if that helps.

just saw the posts, trying it now
EDIT: #2 and 3 fail
