Network problems during install

On all prior versions of openSUSE, I’ve had no problems passing the network test (download of latest release notes) during installation from DVD (this is for a wired network).

However, with 11.0, not only does this always fail, but even during the first session that is booted up after installation, the network still isn’t working.

Once if force a reboot, it works fine. But this messes up installing updates as part of the installation flow.

It’s not a show stopper, but I’m wondering if anyone else has been having this problem?

{Chuckle} Must be in the air tonight…

Are you performing a network install? I’ve found that after the system does
it’s first “fake-boot”, it will suddenly stop with “can’t resolve…” error
for something it wants.

Press CTRL-ALT-F2, and type:

rcnetwork restart

then CTRL-ALT-F7, wait a moment, click on ‘retry’ and it should take off
again.

If this ‘bug’ affects the DVD install, you can perform the same command to
recover that too.

A minor bug. Most likely reported, just hasn’t been fixed
yet.

I’ve been doing my installs from the retail DVD - next time I’ll try your suggestion.
