I couldn’t find anything about this problem in the forums but rember reading that the 64bit kernal has a problem with this. Anybody know of a fix or any information?

Thanks, Tom Taylor

How are you configuring things (meaning, which data are you putting where
in Yast? If you are using a workstation (non-server) you may want to
stick with the NetworkManager simply because changing configuration from
wired to something else as you move around will be easier. On the other
hand your ‘uname’ output shows you are using a 32-bit kernel so if that is
your hunch I think it may be mistaken.

If you go into Yast (sudo /sbin/yast lan) and enter a static IP address
(vs. DHCP which you are probably using now) and configure the gateway and
DNS servers properly are you able to do things? Currently it just looks
like you do not have an IP address so either you are not setup for DHCP,
your DHCP server is not working (unlikely if NetworkManager works), or
perhaps there is a bug. I’d try out the static stuff to verify that can
work at least.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I found the problem. I have to sheepishly say that I had installed the 32 bit, not the 64 bit. I had mislabeled a DVD I burned. Things seem to be working correctly after re-installing. Thanks again.
