I am now running SUSE 11 with KDE 4 and am very happy with it.
I have a Brother HL2070N printer attached to a Netgear hub with a RJ45 cable and cannot seem to make the printer work.
Do I need to set it up using Yast>add printer, or should I try using CUPS? I am not sure what CUPS does.
I am quite new to this Linux and find it all very daunting, is there a guide somewhere, that is written in simple language, on setting up a printer such as mine?

Fear not, madmanbob, it’s easier than you think.
First, make sure your printer has gotten an IP address (assuming you have a
DHCP server on your network). You can usually find this by thumbing
through the menus on the printer itself.
Next, launch YaST and go into Hardware | Printer. Click on [Add], then
select ( ) Network Printers. Click on [Next], then select ( ) Print
Directly to a Network Printer. [Next] again, then leave the default at ( )
Direct TCP Port Printing. After clicking [Next], you’ll need to enter the
IP address of the printer into the Hostname of Print Server field. Most
print servers use TCP port 9100, so keep the default and click on [Test
Remote Socket Access]. If this is successful, then click [Next].
The rest of the dialogs are fairly straight forward. On the Queue Name and
Spooler Settings, the only requirement is a Name for Printing. I generally
don’t share the printer unless you’ve other machines on the network that
want to use your machine as the print server. Once past this point, make
sure you click on [Change Model] on the Basic Settings tab to select the
make/model of the printer.
That should be about it. If you have other problems, let us know!

Thank you very, very much. I am so glad that I have this SUSE 11 now and am very grateful for the support you have given. It worked just as you described.
If only I could get the HP color Laserjet 2600n working that way too, but I have read on the internet that it will not work with Linux at all and I will have to change it.
I owe you a beer for that!

Yes, unfortunately, we have no working driver for the LJ2600n at present.
