network-manager-vpnc and hybrid auth

I’m new to openSUSE and while I have used Ubuntu a little bit on my home theater computer I’m still much more familiar with Windows. Anyways, one question is with regards to network-manager-vpnc and using hybrid auth. I know the default version of vpnc and network-manager-vpnc do not support this due to licensing restrictions with openssl. I’ve compiled my own version of vpnc by following the instructions and it works great however I’d like to get it integrated into network manager.

On the Ubuntu side there is a package available that an enterprising person together to modify the network-manager-vpnc GUI to support this in network manager. The packages that add this feature for Ubuntu can be found here and a screenshot and post about it, albeit in German, are shown here (though the site seems to be down at the moment).

I took a shot at porting the package to an rpm using alien, however I ran into a couple of problems. The first one is that the original package uses the tilde character in it’s name and alien complains about it being illegal. I unpacked the deb archive, modified the control file and put it back together but now alien is complaining it can’t read the control file. The archive looks OK to me but this stuff is pretty new to me.

So long story short, I was wondering if anyone knows where this patch could be located as an rpm or has already done this work and could forward to me.
