Network just with sudo

Hi,
I’ve installed OpenSuse 13.10 and after the installation I set up my home network (wi fi), I can connect to the network just as sudo.
If I execute:

sudo ping www.google.com

But If I try without sudo it says: ping: icmp open socket: Operation not permitted

And if I try to use Firefox it doesn’t work…

Some help?

There is no OpenSuse 13.10.
The latest version of openSUSE is 13.1.

and after the installation I set up my home network (wi fi), I can connect to the network just as sudo.

How did you set up your home network?

Switch to NetworkManager in YaST->Network Devices->Network Settings->Global Options, then use your Desktop’s network applet to set it up.
You shouldn’t need sudo or your root password then.

If I execute:

sudo ping www.google.com

But If I try without sudo it says: ping: icmp open socket: Operation not permitted

Works fine here.
Have you changed something in the security settings?
Does ping work with “sudo”?

Solved!

The problem was the DNS server, I configured the network to use the google DNS server and now it works…
