No scan output, but the scanner moves. Log.txt is exactly the same as posted.
simple-scan returns the following messages

I have been having a similar problem with an HP MFP. I do not wish and am not qualified to join in but in my own endeavours I found a post which refers to apparmor and there may be a similar plugin for your machine. Just a thought. See below:-
After searching serveral days now I found a solution:
In the /var/log/messages I found the information that a Plugin-Version did not match, but running
> hp-plugin -i
did not work. I need to run
> aa-disable /usr/share/hplip/plugin.py
from package apparmor-utils do disable the AppArmor security profile for the hplip/plugin.py before I could sucessfully download the needed plugins.
Sadly it didnāt work for me but only because I suspect the plugin had not been configured at all!
As far as I can tell from my /var/log/messages
this problem doesnāt affect me. But thanks for your input.
To the op. Is there a .conf file of your printer scanner in/etc/sane.d
Some canon printer scanner you need to add your canon ip in that .conf file.
There are several canon .conf files there plus a pixma.conf, but none of them refer to my GX6000 series.
Yes, not relevant to your situation (at least with respect to scangeamp2).
However, Iām not sure how to progress the airscan approach. It may take a bug report to better understand why your multifunction device model is not working as expected.
Could be not relevant in your situation as deano_ferrari said.
I am not familiar with canon, itās been a while when I setup a canon network printer.
Just curious if your canon GX600 series is using a pixma driver.
If so, thatās where you have to put the printer ip. /etc/sane.d/pixma.conf
Edit for lots of typo.
As far as I can tell, GX6050 is not a pixma device. I have tried both the bjnp and mfnp protocols and neither seem to work.
Have you seen this link by any chance.
Read til the bottom of the page for firewalld config.
It looks promising, but I fear Iām not clever enough to know what I need to do here.
Canon Service & Support has just informed me that it does not support installation and use of the printer under Linux. In other words, I have shot myself in the foot with this acquisition! Be warned!
Iām not convinced that is true, but Iām not surprised about their ignorance here. Canon are well known for their lack of official support. The Avahi results showed that it is eSCL capable, but it may need a bug report to progress this. Maybe a later version of SANE (as used in TW) would yield better results.
There are many SANE packages in Tumbleweed. where would I start? SANE-backend?
The sane-escl backend is for airscan-capable devices. Hopefully, the SANE developers can advise more meaningfully here.
Are you planning on trying Tumbleweed?
Iām a bit reticent, not having any experience. Also, the thought occurs to me, I could use the Canon Windows/MacOS software on a virtual machine. However, experience is needed there, too. Where should I turn?
I would start a new thread if you need advice about installing a VM.
Thanks to the wizards who helped me on this problem.
Iām happy to report that scanning is now working with the Canon GX6050
using scangearmp2-4.40 as recommended by the sane-development forum together with suggested firewall adjustments.
Anyway: PROBLEM SOLVED!
