Network Card Problems

hello, im unable to do much at all with openSUSE 11.1. im using a Dell Inspiron 1501, with a Broadcom 440x model. basically im Linux STUPID! but i am used to command lines, i used to use backtrack 3, so i know the basic structure of the lines. but my problem is that nothing i can do will get the internet to work. my light almost is never on when i boot linux, occasionally it will come on, but it wont connect or detect anything. it does however, register as wlan0, but nothing else works.

Getting Your Wireless to Work - openSUSE Forums

There was never any intention to suggest you were stupid, where did I mention that!

Open a terminal and become su and do

lspci -v

nevermind, i fixed it, there is a very very old guide here on the forums, if i find it again, i will post the link for those with the inspirion 1501

I don’t know what you did - please elaborate.

The one thing I did see is that a Broadcom 440X is NOT a wireless
device. They use 44XX for wired devices. Their wireless units are 43XX.
