hello all.
i use wired network connected via homeplug ( electric grid adapter ). the problem : network link speed is limited to 10 mbps often, sometimes a restart solves the problem and the link speed rise to 100 mbps but more often then not it doesnt
solve the problem. the homeplug leds indicates that the link speed is => 105 mbps allways.
troubleshooting i tried : got a new cable, didnt solve the problem.
reset the homeplugs and updated firmware ,still the same.
dualbooted windows, link is allways 100 mbps stable. the home plugs are each connected to the wall without a splitter.
this problem is since i switched to opensuse 12.3. i didnt have the problem of no network after installation.
opensuse 12.3 64 bit on thinkpad t61 with 1gb ethernet onboard.
nobody have an idea where to start ?
ive been looking online for troubleshooting info and couldent find something meaningful
maybe this is not the right forum topic ?
ill leave it open for a few days while looking for a solution…
if anybody have any idea on where to start i will be greatful.

A likely negotiation issue… what is reported by the following?
That output looks okay, but perhaps auto-negotiation is causing the issue sometimes. It can be hard set to 100M FD if necessary. Other than that, I can’t really offer any further advice with these devices.
thank you deano for the pointer…
after trying to set autonegotiation from the computer side i discovered the problem was on router side.
something withe its firmware was wrong.
took some time to narrow it down though.
