Netbook/ Small Laptop that works perfect

Dear all,
I would like to buy soon an not so expensive small laptop (probably a netbook) for my daily inside train work.

I would like to ask you to suggest me deviecs that work very good (if not perfect with opensuse).

That means (changing brightness, hibernate and sleep mode). Graphics drivers for the embedded card (so it can also work on low power mode).

Do you have few models or cpu models or graphics models that work really good with linux?

Regards
Alex

the Acer described in the link in my sig works perfect with openSUSE
11.4 and the software also described in my sig…however i had to fiddle
a little with Skype and MUCH more important:

manufacturers are constantly seeking ways to drive down the price of
manufacturing…and, the netbook i’m typing on was made around two
years ago!! so, the Acer Aspire One D255 on the shelf in your area (or
the web site you may buy from) may have been built a month ago using
lots of different internals…so!

oh, and i’ve said this a lot of times: the best way to get a laptop you
are sure will work with Linux, is to buy a laptop with linux installed
by the maker/seller

[note, there was someone in the forums not too long ago who bought a
laptop (Dell, maybe) which came with some version of Ubuntu installed,
and he was having problems with openSUSE: if i recall correctly i
suggested he put back the Ubuntu that came on the system…one has to
decide if one wants a working older system, or a non-working newer
system.]

I have a good experience with the small netbooks from Asus.
OpenSUSE is working nicely on the devices of Asus.

Hi there,
I got the green light from boss to get me one small laptop for business purposes. How I can decide which one I can buy when I can not be sure in advance how compatbile it is ? What is your take on the issue?

I typically look at the following sites to see what I can learn about compatibility:

I also typically do a Google search on the laptop name/model together with the more common GNU/Linux distributions to see what I can learn about compatibility.

One can also search on our forum (with laptop model) to see if any users have reported on said hardware.

12.2 KDE work out of the box on my HP Mini 110-3004TU.
