Where can I find the netbook version opensuse 11.3 to install ?
Is that the live KDE ? and how to install from usb or external harddisk.
solved installed unetbootin for making usb install then installed lxde on the netbook
No need to use unetbootin - you can use dd to copy the live iso’s to a usb. (In windows, get rawwrite)
I have no windows , did download the wrong iso I think now it is asking me during the install for the DVD.
What image did you download: the filename should be something like: openSUSE-11.3-GNOME-XXX.iso.
If you say you have no windows, what OS are you using?
I am using opensuse 11.2 on my desktop.
Download openSUSE-11.3-KDE4-LiveCD-i686.iso
dd if=///home/anton/Downloads/openSUSE-11.3-KDE4-LiveCD-i686.iso of=///dev/dsb bs=4M;sync
is not working I see nothing on the usb stick?
Why is there no good explanation in the download and install section?

SDB:Live USB stick - openSUSE
Uselessness for opensuse 11.3
The above (booting the DVD image from a USB flash drive) does not, however, work in opensuse 11.3: a message pops up saying
Unable to create repository from URL ‘hd://?device=/dev/sde1’ Details: Empty destination URI: hd:///?device=/dev/sde1
First remove the usb stick from the pc.
Now open a terminal and login as root (su)
type fdisk -l and check the disks
Insert the usb and type fdisk -l again and identify the usb device id (/dev/sdX)
Unmount the usb drive and in your terminal type
dd if=/home/anton/Downloads/openSUSE-11.3-KDE4-LiveCD-i686.iso of=/dev/dsx bs=4M;sync
where sdx is the usb drive.
This should work.
Thanks it works but I wanted to install LXDE because the HP2133 is a netbook with only 1ghz memory.
When I try installing openSUSE-11.3-DVD-i586.iso from a usb flash drive it keeps asking me for the install CD or DVD.
It is nice to offer LXDE but how can we install it without a DVD drive?
I see KDE- workspace netbook is fast enough problem solved thanks sofar.
If you tell it to install without an Internet connection, I am told it only installs what is on the usb stick. Once installed, you can add lxde in yast.
I run gnome on my acer 150d and a samsung nc10 without any problems.
Glad you got it going and are happy.
I tried the 11.2 lxde iso from here and didn’t like it:
