Hi all,
Recently our sys administrator decided to go to static IPs from the earlier assigned dynamic ones. This has created some havoc in my open suse 11 and I do not have access to network. I tried using the YAST network configuration manager, after everything is done it shows ‘network wired’ but unable to ping. Where is the problem? any pointers

The syssadmin probably gave you an IP address to use. You changed to static, enter the IP, done. Go back in the network config and enter the DNS’s provided by the sysadmin or use google’s (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), also enter the gateway’s IP (ask sysadmin). That should be all.
