net join still fails

Hi there.

I still have the problem my Linux machine isnt able to join an ads domain.
The DC is a SBS2003.
I upgraded samba to version 3.2.1 but this didnt help.
If i use the command “net ads lookup dc <mydomain>” i get the correct infos about my dc.
If i want to join the domain using “net ads join <mydomain>” i get the errormessage “Failed to join domain: failed to find DC for domain <mydomain>”.
Any suggestions are welcome. Please help!!

I dont want this to be forgotten.
Really nobody got any idea?

I would recommend searching the samba.org list archives for information, the
users/developers there are much more familiar with samba and its interaction
with windows domain controllers.

An chapter of an online book/reference can be found here:
http://us6.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/domain-member.html

(whole book is available too, see ‘UP’ link at bottom of page)

And the samba mailing lists are available for browsing through here:
http://us6.samba.org/samba/archives.html

They do seem to have a web interface, but its certificate is broken, you may
have issues. Of course, you could always access them through
NNTP/newsreader, and details are available at the bottom of that page too.

I have no other information to offer, as I haven’t any windows machines. The
few systems I administer which are in windows environments are usually
servers, which don’t need DC access. Haven’t had to jump that hurdle (yet).

Hope this helps, the samba people will be better prepared to answer your
questions.

For anyone prospecting for this issue:

Try to put your windows domain dns server first on top in /etc/resolv.conf.

Enjoy

Great… I look around for over 2 hours… try all the solution on the net … and “voilà”
the order in the resolv.cfg…

it’s working…

you make my day…

Thanks buddy
