Nepomuk 11.3, M2

Does Nepomuk work in M2?

I tried to install Virtuoso backend but couldn’t due to a Virtuoso server dependency.

Not on my laptop (Dell Studio 1745). When I run Kmail 1.13.0, a popup message says Nepomun is disabled although it is enabled in System configuration.

I got it working; turns out that 11.3 M2 disables Nepomuk by default. (Both the Nepomuk service and Nepomuk autostart are set to false, despite virtuoso being installed by default with KDE 4.4.) Editing nepomukserverrc (it’s a text file, so any text editor will do for changes) and setting both Nepomuk and autostart to true gets things kickstarted again (following a logout and log in).

I checked that file and it already had those settings.

I get this error every time Nepomuk tries to start:

Nepomuk Semantic Desktop needs the Virtuoso RDF server to store its data. Installing the Virtuoso Soprano plugin is mandatory for using Nepomuk.

I like that idea.

I did make some progress.

I installed (in this order due to dependencies) from openSUSE Build Service:

virtuoso-drivers - version 6.1.0-14.7
virtuoso-server - version 6.1.0-14.7

Then I got the redland error so I deleted ***nepomukserverrc, ***rebooted and got no errors.

However, all searches from Dolphin come up empty.

How long did you give it to index everything?

Do you have both nepoMUCK and strigi enabled?

Okay, I figured it out.

I opened up the software manager, looked for Nepomuk and the search came up empty.

I thought it was supposed to be installed by default!

So I added from OBS:

nepomuk-tools and nepomuk_virtuoso_converter (not sure if I needed this one)

Before I could install nepomuk_virtuoso_converter I had to install libjpeg8 due to a dependency.

Then I deleted the Nepomuk folder and the Nepomuk config files, logged out and in and Nepomuk now works like it should as far as I can tell.

So far everything I search for comes up instantly.
