What’s the simplest modern software to do this? Or is it still conky / gkrellm.
I see oS comes with libsensors4, I can’t even work out how to initialise that, is there some kind of front end that goes with it?
Thanks.

Hi
You need the sensors package and then as root user run sensors-detect.
Then you might need to configure the /etc/sensors3.conf package…
Thanks Malcolm, didn’t have to configure anything but I followed these steps (last post) and found the relevant sensors already loaded. Good stuff, does the job. :good:
unfortunately, lm-sensors do not detect any fan on any motherboard. on my laptop, it detects only the temperature. to detect the fanspeed i need to install the i8k module.
my laptop is a dell inspiron 1521.
Think you need those: https://software.opensuse.org/package/i8kutils?search_term=i8k
