Need Password Upon Bootup

Apparently it isn’t default to have a password required on bootup; does anyone know where I can change that?

Are you using KDE with automatic login enabled? You can disable it if you want.
Go to:
Configure Desktop
Advanced (tab)
Login Manager
Convenience (tab)
Enable Auto-Login

You mean…?

a) BIOS / hard disk password
b) Grub password
c) openSUSE password
d) All of the above

No, that’s not enabled. It’s just that when I turn my computer on and boot into Windows, it obviously needs my password to logon to my account, but not openSUSE…

Just openSUSE.

Start Yast - System - sysconfig editor
Search for ‘AUTOLOGIN’ and remove your username as a value.
Reboot and you should see the login screen, requiring your username and password.

During install, at first user configuration, the autologin is defaulted now. You probably missed that.

Thanks so much, this is just what I was looking for! Even I could follow your instructions!
