i really think we need a new forum hierarchy that is focused on providing aid to
those folks who are pretty happy with most of the “under the hood” and/or “geeky
stuff”…and, have “moved on” to the things that are more important to them, like:
-
the size, shape, color depth, clarity and design of icons
-
variety and beauty of desktop backgrounds/splash screens/etc
-
range of sounds to accompany windows opening/closing, etc
-
increasingly entertaining desktop effects of Compiz
-
expanding the stable of glitzy screen savers
-
cohesive applications of infinitely variable themes
-
providing one click instant gratifications (without time investment)
-
pursuit of the ultimate “eye candy”
-
etc etc etc etc
trouble is, as i wander around looking for folks to help with that mundane stuff
(like: HELP!!! Installed crappy 11.0 and now can’t find mom’s important
documents.) i’m often bumping into these more important things and think it
might be better to construct a special place for those with such needs…
naming it correctly to facilitate the herding-in step, might a little difficult,
perhaps:

with some finely tuned sub-fora, like:
