Need help with Postfix, Courier-imap, and local mail system

I am trying to set up a mail server on one of my systems using Postfix and Couriers-imap. I used this how-to as my guide for setting up Postfix and Courier-imp/courier-pop3, http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_server_opensuse10.3_p5, after following that guide nether email sent to my domain or local mail makes it into the users mail box. I am using a dynamic dns domain so that may account for the fact that network email does not work but not the local mail.

Any help please?

EDIT: sorry I posted this in the wrong forums, can some one close this for me?

k thx bye

Hi,

I followed the same guide and got postfix to work… I wanted to send e-mail using PHP. Did you uninstall sendmail and kill the send mail process? What happens when you telnet localhost? Did you get through all the openssl stuff in the guide… that can be a bit tricky.

See the thread I started here:
Telnet to Postfix - openSUSE Forums

Yea I followed every step, sendmail is gone and its process is deleted, and I set up the openssl certificate like the guide suggest. The problem I am having is with postfix not knowing where to put the messages.

I moved the support request to Network/Internet because it is a more suitable forum for this:

Hello Members

I am confused : local mail is not working :

No cron task messages are being delivered

No system messages get thru

& mailx does not deliver mail

/var/log/warn

  • says ‘warning incoming mail UID 0 Not a regular file’

it seems the queue manager is deleting everything??

What to try next please??

thanks
Anna
