Need Help with Banshee My Music is Not Playing I am a new user

I have music installed, but it will not play on Banshee. Please help.

Since you are using Banshee, can we assume that you loaded and are using the GNOME desktop? What version of openSUSE are you using (11.3 or 11.4). Is this a 32 or 64 bit installation? What type of music files are you trying to play? (MP3, M4A, WMV an Audio CD?). What does Banshee do? Does it look like it is playing, but you have no sound. Does it find your music OK? Have you looked at the threads on adding in Multimedia to your PC? I normally use Amarok because I use KDE, but I also normally load GNOME, for testing and so I can get Banshee to work for me. I pulled it up to listen to a very old record called Abraxas by Santana which I actually converted to MP3 myself. Anyway, you need to load the right codecs to play the music you want to play, but you also need to know how to configure Banshee. Based on your very short message, it is hard to tell just how far you got with the program. I suggest some extra reading here:

If you have not tried to add the audio codecs required for Multimedia, perhaps you should look at this:

You may also want to make sure you have added in Packman, if you have not done so as a repository:

This is a lot of stuff to look at when you just say Banshee does not work, but perhaps something there will be helpful to you.

Thank You,
