I’m looking for a chat client that can talk to AOL Instant Messenger. All of the ones I’ve found on the web seem to be several years old. Can anyone tell me of such clients that they are using?
Hi
What about pidgin?
Information for package pidgin:
Repository: openSUSE-Leap-42.1-Update-Oss for x86_64
Name: pidgin
Version: 2.10.11-6.1
Arch: x86_64
Vendor: openSUSE
Installed: No
Status: not installed
Installed Size: 3.5 MiB
Summary: Multiprotocol Instant Messaging Client
I guess I missed that one. I see that it appears to be actively supported; I’ll give it a try. Thanks.
Works fine here for some years (on Win 7, openSUSE 13.2, TW) with AOL accounts, using it with the off-the-record (OTR) plugin for end-to-end encryption.
Only some trashy AOL-messages from time to time that I’m logged in at more than one site (my NSA officer pressing the wrong buttons in PRIMS, i guess )
If you’re on KDE: Kopete used to be able to handle AOL.
