Hey guys, been a while since the last time I used openSUSE (11.2 to be exact) and after hearing that it was one of the 2 distros officially supporting Gnome 3 as of now, thought I’d dust off the old Mac partition and replace Ubuntu Unity (nasty gui) with something a little better. Now, off to the problems!
1.) Have a feeling this is just a driver issue, but can’t seem to figure it out for some reason. Computer is a Macbook Pro 4,1 sporting an Nvidia 8600GT card, so should DEFINITELY be good for Gnome Shell, yet it thrust me into fallback mode upon reboot after updating to Gnome 3. Any help finding the proprietary driver that Nvidia just released would be amazing, as I hear that it improves support anyway.
2.) Network Manager applet is gone and not starting upon boot. I would just troll the forums for the answer to this one, but I can’t really find too much openSUSE related gnome 3 information in the first place!
I’m sure most of these problems are just human error on my part as most seem to be able to install Gnome 3 without much of a problem, but I have no idea what’s wrong with this install. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
