Need a basic accounting / invoicing software to replace Wind

Hi,

I have been using quickbooks online starter edition. My contract is up and I am not renewing. Its major shortcomings are that it won’t allow importing of data, only grudgingly allows for exporting of data and allows NO local storage at all. Many times I am looking at someone who owes me money and all I can do is tell him that I will email him an invoice. I am the polar opposite of Guido with a big stick… I can only email

DONE.

I need a basic accounting software that is easy to use for non-accountants, even idiots. I need to be able to invoice my customers, save the invoices for the tax guy, and hopefully generate various sorted reports by client, month, etc… Hopefully, I can save the invoices on my laptop so that I can attach them to emails or hand them over on a thumb drive when useful.

This is the very last thing that chains me to microsoft on my work laptop; therefore, I am looking forward to your help.

Thanks,

B

Well if you dont mind installing Apache/PHP/MySQL then Simple Invoices may be just what you are looking for.

But there is also TurboCash and GnuCash which you may also want to take a look at.

Well i have used both quickbooks and freshbooks for sending invoices. Though i am still using freshbooks, i am still looking for more options. I recently got mail from invoicera guys. I have registered for the beta launch. you can also check it out at invoicera.com

still searching for more options…

Depending on how involved you want to get, there are several very good accounting packages on Linux. These might be more then what you’re looking for.

Here are a couple:

Ledger SMB

Nolapro

Hey All

I have been using the services of invoicera.com for quite sometime now and they are coming up with the new Invoicera with features like time-tracking, expense tracking, import function, and much more. Check out their blog at invoicera.com/blog for updates.
