NBC appears to allow only Windows and Mac clients to their Olympics video section. Does this strike anyone else as ridiculous?
Have you tried using user-agent switcher with Firefox?
NBC requires use of Silverlight 2.2 beta, which is unsupported by Linux.

let me see…is there a possible connection between NBC and Silverlight…
NBC > MSNBC > MS Silverlight
right, little use in writing them and asking to let us use an open standard, or
a competing vendor’s Flash…

I downloaded everything needed and I still can’t get the video to work. I am using a stock intel mac.

For Linux you’d need Mono and Moonlight but “support for Silverlight 2.0 is in pre-Alpha stage”.

I noticed that. I tried Silverlight 1 first but it carped at me.
ANother thing I noticed is that at first it carped at me for not using either
IE or Firefox on Windows. As I was using SeaMonkey at the time, I swore at
it. Then I installed Silverlight, and when I went back to that page it told
me my silverlight needed to be newer. So apparently it cares more about
silverlight than the browser strings.

There is a moonlight (silverlight linux version) from the packman repo. Has anyone tried it?
I don’t believe moonlight will work…but who knows, I’ve been wrong before…
For those on an Intel Mac, you can install Silverlight…I downloaded the package, extracted with CharlesSoft Pacifist to my desktop. I then opened package contents (right click) and removed the Settings plugins as well as the update mechanism, and all the foreign language support…works well…
I wouldn’t put it on w/o doing this however, as it supposedly calls home a little too often…
Good Luck!
I watch it on cbc here in Toronto. Doesn’t need a silverlight. Plays well with firefox in linux.
