NAT router connection.

Hi,

I have a Bt broadband router. Under opensuse leap 42.2 firewall interface settings should I have that interface set as internal as the router will be doing the firewalling?

Thanks,

Steve.

I do not quite understand you. But when your router is functioning as firewall against the Internet and when you need no firewall against your LAN, then you could switch the internal firewall off completely.

It is what I do, but other may advise different.

I generally run a firewall on my systems inside my network as well -
generally not a bad idea in the event that the network is breached.

But as a general rule, if you have no port forwarding rules, that
shouldn’t be necessary - but it is still considered a good practice.

My setup actually uses iptables rather than the SUSE firewall, so the
concept of “zones” isn’t really applied to that config.
