How do I upgrade boost libraries from 1.46 to 1.49?

you should always, at the very least tell us your version of openSUSE
and what desktop and version you are using…

you could try a “1-Click Install” at http://software.opensuse.org/search
or by using YaST Software Management and some non-standard repo…

Oh I am sorry. I am using openSuse 12.1 and kde4 desktop.
