Mythtv .22 OpenSuse 11.2

Anyone installed MythTv .22 yet? I used the one click install from packman.

I went through the setup but when I try “Watch TV” it says:

“Failed to reinitialize video output.”

I can use Kaffeine and watch TV without a problem.

I have a Haupague 1250 Tuner and an ATI 4650 using lates fglrx driver.

I have the same problem, but it still records fine. I only use it for recording so I haven’t investigated it at all.

I changed the Video settings so it will use an alternate player (mplayer) if internal player doesn’t work.

I can now watch live TV.

But one of the channels and DVD playing has some strange display problem. Video is mirror split.

Thank you for the hint. I changed the video playback profile in the frontend from CPU+ to Normal and now I have picture. I didn’t need to change to an alternative player (I still don’t have any sound).

Maybe that was the setting that fixed it for me too. I think I set it to CPU++?

I haven’t had any problem with sound, but whenever it’s not working i just restart alsasound (usually flash player locks it up, amazing how terrible flashplayer continues to be)

Now I’m working on getting my laptop connected to the backend. But I keep getting an error that it can’t connect or think it’s not running. I’ve opened the port in the firewall, and was able to connect to the DB as well.

I want to install just the MythTV 0.22 frontend on OpenSUSE 11.2. What’s the zypper command for this?

Found it: sudo zypper in mythtv-0_22-frontend

Everything works. I didn’t have any issues.

… until I rebooted my backend. My video capture card device nodes changed. Anyone have a good solution for keeping the device nodes from changing – and that will work in MythTV .22?
