MySQL Community Server Not In Yast

Hello All,

I must be missing something, but if I look for MySQL Community Server in Yast > Software Management I am unable to find it. Is it part of the repository still?

Thanks!

The MariaDB has been used as the default for ages now…

system. It's a backward compatible, drop-in replacement branch of the
MySQL Community Server.

This package only contains the server-side programs.
Distribution: openSUSE Leap 15.0

Are you sure that it’s not installed already?

Hi deano_ferrari,

I checked and mariadb is installed, however we require MySQL. The last server build I did was a very long time ago (OpenSuSE 13.1) and MySQL was still part of the Repo then.

If it’s no longer in the repository I will install it manually. I thought I must have been missing something.

Thanks again for your help.

Just in case this is useful to you…

I’ve done some reading and now understand the situation a bit more.

I will look at configuring and using MariaDB now.

Thanks. I should have done that first.

No worries. Let us know if you have any further questions.
