getting your system working correctly is gonna be a multi-step process
that i can’t personally help a lot with, however i wanna say that you
should never log into KDE/Gnome/XFCE or any other *nix-like graphical
user interface desktop environment as root…
doing so
- opens you up to several different security problems,
- too many too easy ways to damage your system no matter how careful
your actions (example: just browsing in your home directory while
logged into KDE/Gnome/etc as root can lock you out later as yourself
due to permissions damage),
- and, anyway logging into KDE/etc as root is never required to do
any and all administrative duties…[not even the “just checking to see
if it would work ok” that you did…that too can be done just by
booting from the “Failsafe” option given on the first boot screen]
so, always log in as yourself, and “become root” by using a root
powered application (like YaST, File Manager Superuser Mode) or using
“su -”, sudo, kdesu, or gnomesu in a terminal to launch whatever tool
is needed (like Kwrite to edit a config file)…read more on all that
here:

now, to your problems:
since you had a good stable machine for four or five hours before the
trouble started i need to ask some system clarifying questions, and
then maybe the path forward will be clearer:
-
i see this is your first post here (WELCOME) is this also your
first brush with openSUSE? with Linux?
-
did you install from the DVD (which 32 or 64 bit?) or from a Live
CD (which, KDE, Gnome, LXDE, Xfce, Education, and 32 or 64)?
-
were you connected to the net when you installed, and if so did you
elect to update during the install process? i ask, because i wonder if
you installed without updating, and then you connected to the
internet, got a pop-up saying updates were available and you clicked
to allow them and then went to facebook and after a few minutes (maybe
half an hour) it all went sour! (if so, we can try to find out what
update broke your machine)…
-
if number three is all wrong, then what did YOU do by way of
customizing, changing, etc just before it went crazy?
wait a second: let me understand better what you wrote: was the
wireless and sound not working, and the cpu at 100% BEFORE the “laptop
began to be unstable and work so slowly”, or did all of that start AFTER?
and, by “unstable” and “slowly” are you only describing how Firefox
scrolls on Facebook? if so, you probably need to know that that is
NORMAL for me on Facebook…and, some friends tell me it is normal
for them on Vista, Win7, Ubuntu, etc etc etc!
for the best help, you need to make ONE post for each different problem:
for wireless read and follow the three stickies at the top of the
wireless forum: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/wireless/
then post to that forum, ONLY your wireless questions…but follow the
sticky directed way to post…
for sound, post that only to the multimedia forum (read the sticky
there first!):
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/multimedia/
for CPU 100%: do some READING here: http://tinyurl.com/34gcb26
note, don’t start following all the advice you find, because much of
it will probably be focused on problems you may not have…read,
understand and ask…
for unstable and slow: define that better…
